Collection consists mainly of publications including issues of The Paul Quinn Comet, a monthly college newspaper (1955-1957), The Paul Quinn Informant, a newspapers published by the Office of Development (1987-1988), The Quinn Quill, a student newspaper (1986-1987), The Paul Quinn Annual (1896), commencement edition of The Paul Quinn Banner (1942), The Booster, the official alumni publication of the Paul Quinn College Boosters Club (1961), president's monthly newsletter (1941), yearbooks (1966-1985), programs for college functions (1922, 1971-1987, 1996), alumni directory (1995), student handbooks (1975-1995), faculty and staff handbooks (1983-1995), library handbook, Office of Development policies and procedures manual, residence life handbook (1993), college brochures pertaining to the English Dept., Aerospace Studies, A.M.E. Archives and Ethnic Cultural Center, recruitment, book covers, funding, and on receiving senior college status, catalogs (1948-1995), class schedule (1993), and calendar of events (1982). Additional materials include news clippings (954-1987), scrapbooks of clippings (1959-1976), photographs (1970s-1980s), turn of the century photograph of the theology class, framed photographs of former faculty, president's correspondence which is mostly that of President J.W. Yancy (1939-1955, 1987-1988).

Founded in Austin, Tex., in 1872 by a small group of African Methodist Episcopal circuit-riding preachers; 1882 the college moved to Waco, Tex. and first building there was funded by African Methodist Episcopal Church members through a "Ten Cents a Brick" campaign; named for Bishop William Paul Quinn, an A.M.E. missionary of the western state; moved to Dallas, Tex. in 1990.
